Coffee cups…hmmm, would you believe, there are many types of receptacles from which we might drink coffee? It depends what type of coffee you are drinking that determines the type of cup or glass that a barista may use. Many cafés or espresso bars, automatically serve coffee in disposable cups but for the ultimate, sit down coffee experience, you are best to request a ceramic or glass cup. Wouldn’t the respectful coffee connoisseur, reserve disposable coffee cups for takeaways only?
The range
As a range, coffee cups consists of various shapes, sizes, substances with or without saucers and lids. Typically, the cup or mug structure may include any of the following constituents: ceramic, stainless steel, specially coated paper e.g. biodegradable coffee cups, plastic, glass, pottery, porcelain. Coffee cups are mostly ceramic. They may be v or round shaped. Round shaped coffee cups are shallow and wide and cappuccinos are often served in these cups.
Saucers are mostly used with espresso and latte coffee cups. The barista may place a spoon, chocolate coated coffee beans, marshmallows or a biscotti on the side of the saucer to compliment the coffees. Double or triple shot espressos usually come in a small rocks glass or a small ceramic cup.
Coffee mugs & travel mugs
Coffee mugs on the other hand, are a cylindrical shape and may be made from ceramics, plastic, paper, porcelain, pottery or glass. Again these come in large and smaller sizes and travel coffee mugs are generally made of an insulated plastic material with a lid. The better quality travel coffee mugs are stainless steel with a rubber trim which adds a protective measure for the user. Many travel cups or mugs are designed to fit the receptacle recess found in vehicles.

Glass coffee cups & mugs
Tall, slim coffee cups may have a foot at the base to keep them stable. Mochas are usually served in this type of cup. Often special coffees e.g. Irish cream coffees are served in these with lashings for whipped cream. Glass coffee cups or mugs may be made from a special hard, heat resistant glass such as a pyrex. Rocks glasses are used in coffee cupping. Clear or tinted glass coffee cups and mugs will go with most decor in the home but in my experience do not keep the coffee as warm for as long as ceramic ones. Stainless steel cups and mugs add a modern cafe style look to the table setting.
Disposable coffee cups
Disposable coffee cups and biodegradable coffee cups often have a protective sleeve or handle attachment Additionally, for those needing to carry a collection of hot takeaway coffees in disposable cups, there are disposable trays with cup holder compartments to make carrying hot beverages more safe.

You can even design your own custom printed coffee mugs or cups. Images may also be custom printed for promotional purposes or unique gifts.
